Performance: Arvo Pärt's Passio (Closing)
“If you were to listen to one of the most profound works of the 20th Century in darkness, would you hear it differently?”
Major throwback to our 2019 performance of “Arvo Pärt PASSIO: St John Passion in the Dark” with conductor Michael Leighton Jones, chorus master Albert Tay, soloists from Sydney’s The Choir of St James' and an instrumental ensemble made up of top musicians from Singapore.
Bringing to the fore the spiritual beauty of silence and the tintinnabulum (bell-like) quality of Pärt’s sublime music, Passio’s epic closing that depicts the death of Christ finishes on a life-affirming D major chord, giving a resplendent feel to the final words and concluding Amen.
